He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Cook and Bessie Cook; his wife Frances Strickland Cook; his siblings, Ervin Cook, Ruth Collins and Hazel Cleaver; and his son-in-law Sam Helms.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Cook of Concord, NC and Paul F. Cook (Freda); his grandchildren, Nathanael Torrence (Josie), Amber Meadows (Richard), Emily Humpton (Dave) and Heather Cook; and his great grandchildren, Zayne, Cayden, Addyson Humpton, Aubrie, Kyler and Rylan Meadows.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Men's Ministry or to Heifer International (Ending Hunger and Poverty).
