He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Louise Hammond; his children, Billie Rae Hillie Jr., Vernalla L. Crudup and Doris Crudup; and his siblings, Joe Lee, Janie L. Moore and Ollie Mae Hamberg.
He is survived by: his children, Joan Marie McCullough of Indiana, Jack Hillie (Jessica) of Kannapolis, NC, Thomas Hillie (Barbara) of Mt and Daniel Crudup of Winston-Salem, NC; his son-in-law Andrew Crudup of Kannapolis, NC; his nieces, Thomie Mae and Mary Ann; his nephew King Solomon; and his close friends, Carville J. Tolson, Hattie Allison, Wilma Means, Frank Troutman, Greg Watts, Michael York, Pius Colas (Donnell) and Petit Colas. He is also survived by four grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
