She was predeceased by: her spouse Kelly Pink Whitfield, Jr.; her parents, Walter Gray and Ombrice Harris Dickerson; her son David Kelly Whitfield, Sr.; and her siblings, Roland, Gilbert, Gerald Ray, Sam "Jimmy", William Dickerson, Evelyn Shotwell, Getrude Holt, Betty Wilkins and Dorothy Wrenn.
She is survived by: her children, Donald Jeffrey Whitfield of Rockwell, Connie W. King (John) of Concord and Douglas Craig Whitfield (Denise) of Burlington; her stepmother Rosa Dickerson of Roxboro; her siblings, Talmadge Dickerson (Cathy) of Hillsborough, Christine Kepley of Chapel Hill, Ruth Burch of Roxboro and Joyce Carver of Roxboro; her half-brothers, Ted Dickerson (Connie) of Omaha, NE and Tim Dickerson (Jackie) of Roxboro; and her nephews, Jim Fox and Ken Dickerson. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
