He was predeceased by : his parents, James McPeters Sr. and Marie Redd McPeters; and his siblings, Carolyn McPeters, Mary Berry and Billy McPeters.

He is survived by : his wife Gail Lingerfelt McPeters; his children, Robert "Bobby" Gary Scott, Jr. (Crystal), Tammy Gail Scott and Rusty Lee McPeters; his siblings, Faye James, Patricia Burnett (Jimmy "Bo), Gerald McPeters (Pam) and Timothy McPeters (Sharon); his grandchildren, MaryBeth, Emily and Caleb; and his great grandchild Emersynn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
