With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Fred Edward Lay Sr. (Dallas, North Carolina), born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on August 23, 2019 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Earnest Henderson "Chick" Lay and Mattie Louise Brafford Lay; his sisters, Peggy Creech and Brenda Tate; his niece Lisa; and his son-in-law Richard Dean Ouzts.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Wiggins Lay; his children, Teresa Hawkins (Danny), Julia Lay, Michelle Bruce (Johnny Keith), Fred Lay (Amanda Helms), Anita Christenbury (Tommy), Patrick Lay (Christina) and Virginia Lay; his grandchildren, Crystal Massey (John), Danielle Brown (Andrew), Toni Ratliff (Jason), Jason Hawkins (Erika Parker), Melissa Fortner (Beau), Joseph Hawkins, Jocelyn Hawkins, Joshua Bruce (Melody), Patricia Bruce (James Davis), Alisha Bruce (Justin Bolin), Anna Lay (Kristian Farmer), Amber Lay, Ashleigh Lay, Abigail Lay, Zachary Christenbury, Sammy Viers and Joseph Viers; and his great grandchildren, Iain Brown, Austin Bruce, Logan Bruce, Parker Hawkins, Bentley Bruce, Madilyn Parker and Kensley Bolin.
Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park Memorials may be made to his family for expenses.
