He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas W. Poindexter and Dolly Fishel Poindexter; and his sister Patricia P. Reed. He is survived by: his wife Bettie Reid Poindexter; his children, Mark, Van, John, Keith Poindexter and Leigh A. Poindexter; his grandchildren, Kristina P. Parese, Caitlin P. Gubert, Terry Thibault, Casey Poindexter, John Thomas Poindexter, Woody Weatherman and Christian Weatherman; his great grandchild Paisley Edwards; and his sister Jean P. Heath.

Keeping Tommy's request: memorial donations many be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Shriners Hospitals, or to Hospice of Davidson County.
