She was predeceased by: her parents, Louis F. Bowen and Eunice Bell Bowen; her husband Lewis Calvin Smith Jr; her son Fred C Smith; her sister Dorothy Matthews; her niece Sylvia Halman; and her nephews, Fred Matthews and Jack Vollers.

She is survived by: her son Garry J Smith; her daughter-in-law Polly P Smith of Wilmington, NC; her granddaughters, Angie Smith, Jodie Kraushaar and Ashley Trueblood; her great grandchildren, Tiffany Trueblood and Elizabeth Kraushaar of Savannah, GA; her niece Betty Perry; and her nephew Kermit Matthews of Florida.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
