We are sad to announce that on August 7, 2025, at the age of 78, Annie Ruth Holt (Durham, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Annie Ruth may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Annie Ruth touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Edward Prentice and Nora O'Neil Duckett Prentice; and her siblings, William, Colie Prentice and Sylvia Prentice.
She is survived by: her children, Kimberly Dianne Cates (Danny Roberts), Jerry Wayne Cates, Jr., Jonathan Wayne Cates (Donna) and Edward Dwayne Cates. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 11th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Clements Funeral Service (1105 Broad St, Durham, NC 27705). A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 11th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
