He was predeceased by: his parents, Moyer Virgil Matthews and Blanche Pilcher Matthews; his sisters, Virgie Callahan and Dr. Linda McKay; and his brother-in-law Dee R. Callahan.
He is survived by: his siblings, Dottie Cornelius (Jerry), Keith Matthews (Sherry) and Mark Matthews (Melinda); and his pet Tippi. He is also survived by six nieces; two nephews; seven great nieces; two great nephews.
