He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Vernon and Louise Ball; and his children, Christopher Vernon, Benny Vernon, Tonya Pastorick and Tina Vernon.
He is survived by: his wife Francis Christine Vernon; and his children, Jimmy Wayne Vernon (Angela) of Pilot Mountain and Sonya Hill (Ray) of Pilot Mountain. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
