It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Katie Matthews Davis (East Bend, North Carolina), who passed away on February 18, 2022, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Flora Enola and Robert Winfield Matthews (Bob Jim); her siblings, Junior L. Matthews, Edward C. Matthews, Frances J. Hobson, Betty Lou Vestal, Charles Lovell Matthews and Bobby Neal Matthews; and her son-in-law Grady Gough.

She is survived by : her husband Gerdie Samuel Davis; her daughters, Debbie Gough and Tanya Hamm (Mike); her granddaughters, Melissa Swaim (Kevin) and Misty Hamm; her great grandchildren, Michael, Jacob, Katherine Swaim and Brooklyn Heyman; her siblings, Archie J. Matthews (Barbara) and Polly McKnight; and her sister-in-law Rosa Matthews. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Katie's church, Prospect United Methodist Church, 3541 Smithtown Road, East Bend, NC 27018 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 243 N Lee Street, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
