With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ruby Ruth Huie Matthews of East Bend, North Carolina, who passed away on November 20, 2021 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Rev. John "Milo" and Pearlie Hawkins Huie; her husband Charles W. Matthews; her son Dr. Wayne C. Matthews; and her siblings, Gladys, James, Clarence Huie, Sr. (Betsy), Opal Huie and Grace Huie.

She is survived by : her daughter-in-law Loretta T. Matthews; her sons, Hoke Matthews (Catherine), Clint Matthews (Kim) and John Matthews (Clara); her grandchildren, Jessica Vaught (Jason), Abby Salas (Hugo), Emmy Corn (Steven), Wes Matthews (Kayla), Chelsea Matthews (Ben Hulcher), John Matthews II, Makayla Matthews, Jacob Matthews and Grayson Matthews; and also, Elijah Vaught, Eleanor Vaught and Landon Corn.
