He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Smith and Kate Price Smith; his wife Thelma Hatcher Smith; and his brothers, Kenneth and Alton Smith.
He is survived by: his sons, Donald Smith (Diane) and Darren Smith (Lisa) of High Point; his stepdaughter Berneva Rainey of Stoneville; his grandchildren, DJ, Ashley Smith, Melissa Martin and Jason Porter; and his sisters, Hazel Shafer and Becky Amos of Stoneville.
