He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Payne Rieson and Susie Chatman Rieson; his wife Elizabeth Pratt Rieson; and his children, Garvin Rieson, Jr. and Mary Rebecca Rieson.
He is survived by: his children, Donna Rieson Strickland of Lexington, Marie Smithers of Madison, Patricia "Cissy" Pinkleton of Eden and Jimmy Rieson of Ridgeway, VA; and his grandchildren, Bobby Strickland, Curtis "Punkin" Hodge, Jason Hodge, Stephanie Smith, Tasha Emerson, Angel Barrier, Selina Farabee, Laura Wright and Milton Strickland, Jr.. He is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
