He was predeceased by: his parents, Sandy Pruitt and Mamie Aheron Pruitt. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Evans Pruitt; his children, Douglas Pruitt (Cynthia) of Eden, Dennis Pruitt (Judy) of Eden, Dwayne Pruitt (Patricia) of Bassett, VA and Diane Smith (Tim) of Eden; and his brother Calvin Pruitt (Peggy) of Durham. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
