He was predeceased by: his father Lewis Calvin Smith. He is survived by: his wife Janice Ramsey Smith; his sons, John Smith and Daniel Smith; his mother Annie Dyson Smith of Eden; and his siblings, Gaye Smith of New York, Annie Mabe of Ruffin and William Smith of Madison.
