He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Mitchell and Doris Minter Mitchell; and his brothers, Cecil and Hadyn. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Thompson Mitchell; his children, Mark Mitchell (Theresa) of Hickory, N. C., Suzanne Catalano (Tim) of Mebane, NC and Sandra Jones (Jeff) of Plain City, Ohio; his siblings, Kenneth Mitchell (Elsie) and Carolyn Thomas (James); his sister-in-law Elva Mitchell of Bassett; his grandchildren, Thomas, Sarah, Ryan, Alex, Andrew, Karliana and Matthew; and his great grandchild Emma.
