He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry L. Nixon and Martha Rebecca Harrell Nixon; his former wife Ruth Evans Nixon; his siblings, Elsie Bunch, Cora Harrell, Eva Chesson, Pearl Sawyer, Lloyd, Percy Nixon, Emmer Nixon and Rodney Nixon; and his stepdaughter Pam Virzi.
He is survived by: his wife Anne King Nixon; his children, Charlotte Baker (Cullen) of Edenton and Billy Nixon (Mary) of Tyner; his grandsons, Jonathan Nixon, Jim Nixon (Jennifer), Eric Baker (Courtney) and Adam Baker (Brooke); his great grandchildren, Autumn Baker, Seth Nixon, Berkeley Baker and Jake Willis; and his stepdaughters, Jane Warlick (Ronald) and Kathy Cale. He is also survived by two child siblings.
