She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Edward King and Margaret Chappell King Ward; and her husband Erwin Larry Smith. She is survived by: her children, Susan S. Hines (John) of Suffolk, VA and Larry Clay Smith of Elizabeth City; her grandchildren, John Hines (Megan), Ryan Hines (Jamie), Brandon Hines, Damon Smith and Alena Sanderlin (Jarrod); and her great grandchildren, Hudson, Nora, John Marsden, Lyla, Mila, Jake, Wyatt and Deacon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, in care of Lisa Chappell, 292 Snug Harbor Road, Hertford, NC 27944.
