She was predeceased by: her parents, Clara Powell Stubbs and Arthur Bernard Stubbs; and her brothers, Arthur Bernard Stubbs, Jr. and Edward W. Stubbs. She is survived by: her husband Edward Franklin Puryear, III; her daughter Virginia "Ginny" Puryear Gillam (Hardy) of Edenton; and her caregiver Crystal Telekey of Hertford.
