He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold N. Shafer and Laura M. Sunderman Shafer; his brothers, Ken and Ed; and his wife Myrna Marlene Weiske Shafer.
He is survived by: his brother Gerald (Jack); his children, Shelley Haffner (Rob) of State College, PA, Kevin Shafer (Lori) of Travelers Rest, SC, Joel Shafer (Mindy) of South Hill, VA and Tim Shafer (Tammy) of Windsor; his grandchildren, Ryan, Eric Haffner, Megan Haffner Ladd, Dylan, Sean Shafer, Chantel Shafer Buck and Brett Moran; and his great grandchildren, Cora, Garrett Haffner, Charlie Ladd, Ben, Aria and Arabella Buck. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Due to the conditions and restrictions associated with the current Coronavirus Pandemic, a memorial service is being planned for a later date and those arrangements when complete will be announced by the family and on this website.
