He was predeceased by: his parents, Garland Toppin and Elsie Rae Jethro Toppin; and his close friend Marlene Wilson. He is survived by: his son Nolan Vernon Toppin (Rebecca); his grandchildren, Rylei and Makenzie of Sunbury; and his siblings, Charlotte T. Nixon (Leon) and Ricky E. Toppin (Tabatha) of Edenton. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
