He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan Richard and Minnie Jackson Copeland; and his siblings, Virginia Garrett, Pencie Minter, Thelma Stancil, Ruth Tadlock, Mildred Salmon, Johnny and Nathan Copeland, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Pauline Johnson Copeland; his children, Barbara Vaughan (Jeff) and David Copeland (Stephanie) of Edenton; his siblings, Lela Twine of Edenton and Ervin Copeland of Corapeake; and his grandchildren, Matthew, Wayne, Jeremy, Joshua, Sierra, Noah, Kaitlyn and Dylan. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
