He was predeceased by: his parents, Joel Calvin and Leora Smith Williams; and his siblings, Destine Williams, Lois Harris, Beulah Harrell, Ruby Webb, Ruth Holton, Ailene Foutch, Mary Elliott, Thomas and Calvin Williams.
He is survived by: his children, Cyndi Copeland (Alvin) of Hertford and Melvin Williams, Jr. (Monica) of Edenton; his siblings, Hazel Black of Edenton, Helen Forehand of Taylorsville, VA and Jack Williams of Creswell; his grandchildren, Ashley, Mason, Brooke, Samantha, Eric and Heather; his great grandchildren, Amelia, Emma, Bella, Cason, Elizabeth, Matthew, Logan and Nicolas; and his adoptive son Ryan Williams (Amanda) of Beaufort, SC..
Due to the conditions associated with the Covid-19 Pandemic, no formal visitation is being held, however friends may visit with the family at the gravesite immediately following the service.
