He was predeceased by: his parents, John Julius and Ida Pearl Lamb Owens; his wife Lois Parrish Owens; and his siblings, Flora May Rooker (Theodore), Ernest W. Owens (Nellie Gray), W. T. Owens (Myrtle) and Johnny W. Owens (Beulah).
He is survived by: his son Steven R. Owens (Susan) of Durham.
