Leary left this world on June 4, 2025 at the age of 93, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Leary Franklin Swain, Sr. and Julia Markham Swain; his wife Sandal "Sandy" Oliver Swain; his son Leary Franklin "Buddy" Swain III; and his sisters, Margaret Destio-Boyles and Erma Repine.
He is survived by: his daughter Sandra Gilbert of Elizabeth City, NC.; his grandchildren, Adam Swain, Amanda Bateman, Scott Swain, Christian Willadson and Lucy Gilbert; and his pets, Rusty and Teddy. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Emmanuel Baptist Church (109 Chadburn Ave, Elizabeth City, NC 27909).
