She was predeceased by: her parents, Carlos Armstrong and Margaret Armstrong; her husband Earnest Eugene Ballance; her son Jeffery Theodore Ballance (Laurie); her brother Bobby Armstrong (Pat); and her great grandchildren, Landon and Kalleigh Bohren.
She is survived by: her children, Clifton Ballance (Cricket Colson) of Elizabeth City, Henry Ballance (Belinda) of Elizabeth City, Michael Ballance (April) of Elizabeth City and Megan Ballance; and her siblings, Lynn Kotzian (Cloyd Parker) of Moyock, NC and Timothy Armstrong (Becky) of Elizabeth City, NC. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In her free time, she was an excellent seamstress, creating many custom wedding gowns, Easter dresses, dolls for charity, and altering many prom gowns.
