She was predeceased by : her husband Rudolph H Cook; her parents, Carl Gooden and Evelyn Gooden; and her siblings, Merle Gooden Miller, Nadine Gooden Evans and Major John C Gooden.

She is survived by : her sisters, Florence Gooden Cox of Clarkton, NC and Marsha Gooden Faucette of Midlothian, VA; her grandchildren, Farah Gainey Vann (Eric) of Tarpon Springs, FL and Melissa Gainey King (Brent) of Woodstock, GA; and her great grandchildren, Austin Vann, Garrison Vann, Declan Vann, Mazie King, Graham King and Claire King.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Elizabethtown Baptist Church (1800 W Broad St, Elizabethtown, NC 28337). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM at the Bladen Memorial Gardens (5381 NC-242, Elizabethtown, NC 28337).
