She was predeceased by: her parents, Eddie Smith and Helen Smith; her brothers, Elmer Smith, Hal Smith of Wilbert Smith, E. J, James Smith and Earl Smith; and her son-in-law Norman Barnhill.
She is survived by: her children, Wanda Barnhill of Ivanhoe, Margaret Porter (Glenn) of Kelly, NC, Janet Lanier (Wayne) of Maple Hill, NC, Jimmy New of Atkinson, NC, Eddie New (Mindy) of Clarksville, VA, James New (Amy) of Willow Springs, NC and Michael New (Cindy); and her siblings, Robert Smith of Garland, NC, Larry Smith of Roseboro, NC, Hazel Chadwick (J. C.) of Elizabethtown, NC, Peggy Poole of Clinton, NC and Mary Grainger of Tallahassee, FL.. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the White Lake Baptist Church (7636 NC-41, Elizabethtown, NC 28337). A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Smith Cemetery (831 Mote Rd, Harrells, NC 28444).
