He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Reason and Delzell Cook Reason; and his siblings, Harriett, Janie, Alonzo, Rufus and James.
He is survived by: his wife Jennette Gardner Reason; his sons, Alex Reason (Amanda) of Elm City and Todd Mercer (Christy) of Burlington; his grandchildren, Chelsea Steadman (Blake), Shyann Reason, Meredith Mercer, Morgan Mercer and Addison Mercer; his siblings, Trudy Lamm of Macclesfield, Alma Finch of Bailey, Edna Thigpen of Tarboro, Luther Reason, Jr. of Macclesfield and Douglas Reason of Swansboro; and his pet Jackson.
