She was predeceased by: her parents, W. C. Armstrong and Martha Armstrong; and her siblings, Louvenia A. Lockamy, Rebecca A. Parker, W. Ishmael Armstrong, W. Frank Armstrong, W. V. "Tommy" Armstrong and Harvey L. Armstrong.

She is survived by: her husband Leonard; her children, Matt Matthews (Angela) of Wake Forest, Michael Matthews (Barbara) of Rocky Mount and Sallie Griffin (Greg) of Enfield; and her grandchildren, Courtland, Kate (David), Wesley, Colin and Mollie.
