She was predeceased by: her parents, Reverend Roland Edgar and Ruby Lee Whitaker (Baldwin); and her brother David Edgar Whitaker. She is survived by: her daughter Rebecca Penland (Kebian Gilliland); her grandson Joseph Gilliland; her sister Theresa Hudson; and her sibling's children, Courtney Smith and Kevin Hudson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Groce Funeral Home (72 Long Shoals Rd, Arden, NC 28704). A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Calvary Episcopal Churchyard (2840 Hendersonville Rd, Fletcher, NC 28732).
