He was predeceased by : his parents, Jesse Childers and Hettie Humphries Childers; his son William "Chili" Childers; his brothers, Jessie B. Childers and Robert Lee Childers; and his brother-in-law Henry Hoyle.
He is survived by : his wife Neely Childers; his daughter Abbe C. Byers (P. J.) of Forest City; his grandchildren, Christopher Byers (Cassie) of Forest City, Cameron Byers (Sarah) of Forest City, Dallas Childers of Newton, NC and Christian Brotherton (Seth) of Conover, NC; his great grandchildren, Jackson Byers, Jillian Byers, Jeryn Byers and Memphis Byers; his daughter-in-law Julia Childers of Newton; and his sisters-in-law, Trina Hoyle of Myrtle Beach and Jenny Childers of Gaffney.
