He was predeceased by: his parents, John Crayton Grant and Sarah Robertson Grant; his wife Sue Champion Grant; and his brother Max Grant. He is survived by: his daughter June B. Childers (Keith) of Boiling Springs; his sister Peggy G. Hardin of Rutherfordton; his grandson Tyler Childers (Sara) of Boiling Springs; his great grandchild Vivian; his grandson Kyle Childers of Mooresboro; his nephew Jeff; his great-nieces, Janice Robbins and Ann Haynes; and his close friend Joyce Matheny.
