She was predeceased by: her parents, James Thelton Brinkley and Maudie Katie Eason Grimsley; her husband Cecil Maurice Massengill; and her siblings, J. R. Brinkley, Jasper Brinkley, Barbee Brinkley and Rudean Senter.
She is survived by: her sons, Gordon D. Massengill of Wilmington and Jimmie M. Massengill (Audrey) of Four Oaks; her grandchildren, Brittaney N. Bullins (Charly) of Virginia Beach, Kathleen V. Matthews (Marchie) of Dunn, Jimmie M. Massengill, Jr. and Skye Stewart of Four Oaks; her sons, Alexis O. Massengill and Zack Beasley of Currituck, NC; and her sisters, Elsie Benson of Clayton and Helen Worley of Chapel Hill. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
