It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gene Hooks of Fremont, North Carolina, born in Wilson, North Carolina, who passed away on June 22, 2020, at the age of 65, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Evelyn Mooring Hooks and Harold Martin Hooks, Sr.. He is survived by : his wife Cheryl Hinton Hooks of Fremont, NC; his children, Jennifer Johnson of Montclair, NJ, Megan Johnson of Los Angeles, CA, Lara Smith (Rob Smith) of Apex, NC, Amy Johnson (Matthew King) of Wake Forest, NC and Kyle Hooks of Fremont, NC; his grandsons, Marc-Roman Guercio, Fletcher Smith, Charles King and Declan Smith; and his brothers, Martin Hooks (Dianne) and Tommy Hooks (Beth).

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the American Cancer Society.
