She was predeceased by: her husband William C. Griffin (Bill); and her brother Ernest Hyde Brown, MD. She is survived by: her children, Ara Leigh Griffin (John W. Harris) of Raleigh, NC, Laura G. Galeta (Christopher Galeta), Palm and William C. Griffin, Jr. (Paula Stone Griffin) of Grimesland, NC.; her siblings, Charles (Betty Brown) and Carolyn (Tom Pappendick); her sister-in-law Sue Brown; and her parents-in-law, Art, Margaret Thompson and Donna Phillipps. She is also survived by many cousins; nieces and nephews.
Because of COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ara's name to either Alzheimer's Association, Macular Degeneration, or the American Cancer Society.
