She was predeceased by: her parents, Wade Tingen and Magdalene Tingen Cotton; her husband Porter Smith; and her brothers-in-law, Chester Snipes and Ben Smith.
She is survived by: her daughter Donna S. Matthews (Connie) of Fuquay-Varina; her sisters, Jean Parker (Selby) of Lillington, Judy Wimberly (Billy) of Lillington and Barbara Harvell (Wesley) of Coats; and her sisters-in-law, Rosalyn Snipes of Fuquay-Varina and Faye Smith of Garner. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
