With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth Hardy Dorton (Kannapolis, North Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 17, 2025 at the age of 88. As we bid Mary Elizabeth Hardy farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Mary Elizabeth Hardy is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her son Richard Dorton Jr.. She is survived by: her daughter Fonda D Crooker (George); and her grandsons, Matthew Crooker (Ann Marie) and Daniel Crooker.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM at the Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church (101 Vance St, Kannapolis, NC 28081). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church in Kannapolis or Tillery Compassionate Care of Albemarle (960 N 1st St, Albemarle, NC 28001).
