He was predeceased by: his daughter Janell Currin. He is survived by: his wife Betty Upchurch Bennett; and his children, Virginia Cook, Bonnie McIver, Shirley Callis, Edward Bennett and Joe Bennett. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, Jannell Currin, GA and RA Fund, 3217 Piney Grove-Wilbon Road, Fuquay-Varnia, NC 27526.
