He was predeceased by : his parents, Hansel W. Spence and Dorothy Hurst Spence. He is survived by : his wife Emily N. Spence of Gaston; his sons, Tony Wayne Spence (Denise Patton Spence) of Rocky Mount, NC. and Richard Eugene Spence (Jennifer Scruggs Spence) of Altavista, VA.; his siblings, Ronald Spence (Wanda), Linda Spence of Roanoke Rapids and Druscilla Porch of Gaston; and his granddaughter Amanda "Pumpkin" Spence.
