He is survived by : his wife Jennifer Pharr Davis; his grandchildren, Maurice Daniel "MJ" Smith, II of Gastonia, NC, Morgan Danielle Smith of Gastonia, NC, Martin Davis Smith of Gastonia, NC, Dana Simone Singleton (Jason) of Gastonia, NC and Matthew LaSean Davis of Mt. Holly, NC; his brother Ruben Earl Jackson of Gastonia, NC; his great grandchild A'Siyah; his nieces, Pam Wilson (Sean) of Charlotte, NC, Twanda Blair of Charlotte, NC, Gina Loor of Charlotte, NC and Deborah Dawkins of Raleigh, NC; and his godchildren, Jamar Kendrick of Gastonia, NC, Jamar McKoy of Charleston, SC, Diane Nixon of Gastonia, NC and Kenya Reid of Durham, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Foundation 13816 Professional Center Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078 where an endowment will be established in his memory to provide scholarships for students of Hunter Huss High School.
