He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Lee "Bud" Hicks and Ruby Mae Lamb Hicks; and his brother Tommy Joel Hicks. He is survived by: his wife Annette Steed Hicks; his children, Gary D. "Donny" Hicks, Jr. (Amy), Gregory D. Hicks (Pattye) and Laurel Roe Morris; his granddaughters, Allison Hicks Bradley (AP), Carolyn Hicks and Leah Hicks; and his great grandchildren, Jude Hicks, Eliza Arnold and Luca Dollins.
