He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Charlie Figgs and Ruth Hall Smith of Gates, NC.; his son Daniel Smith (Wendy) of Gates, NC; and his siblings, Mary Francis Sanders of Elizabeth City, NC, Elsie Ward of Gatesville, NC, Ella Ruth Smith of Gatesville, NC, George Smith of Plainfield and Joe Nathan Smith of Ahoskie, NC. He was also cherished by three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
