He was predeceased by: his brothers, Ed Hales and Kenneth "Shorty" Hales. He is survived by: the mother of his children Brenda Hales; his sons, Michael Hales (Christy), Kevin Hales and Keith Hales (Amy); his grandchildren, Brandon Hales, Hannah Evans, Chrislyn Kirkpatrick, Weslea Kirkpatrick, Alex Johnson, Austin Boyer and Kenzie Hales; his great grandchild Addison Evans; his brothers, Earl Hales (Sarah) and Roy Hales (Marie); his sisters-in-law, Kathryn Hales and Linda Hales; and his sisters, Viola King, Sheila Price (Gene), Linda Person (James), Vicky Tilghman (Elton) and Christine Goetze (Fred). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
