He was predeceased by: his parents, Giles W. Parks and Johnnie Newsome Parks; his son David Gene Parks, Jr.; and his siblings, John Joseph Parks, Linwood M. Parks and Mildred P. Stallings.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Lancaster Parks; and his sister Barbara P. Jones of LaGrange. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
