He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett M. Carter and Hepsie Smith Carter; and his wife Madeline Smith Carter. He is survived by: his son Emmett Dwight Carter; his grandchildren, Tammy Strickland (Danny), Teresa Grady and Kelly Haynes (David); his great grandchildren, Mikayla Strickland, Madison Strickland, Kaitlyn Skinner, Kaylie Haynes and David Haynes; and his great great grandchild Ella Munoz. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
