He was predeceased by: his wife Lina Stanaland Angstadt. He is survived by: his stepsons, Ronald Earl Prince (Marcia) of Goldsboro, Michele Ernest Prince (Patricia) of Wrightsville Beach and Samuel Owen Prince (Linda) of Virginia Beach, VA; his sister Joan Hettenbach of Rio Grande, NJ; and his grandchildren, Ronald Jeffrey Prince (Jenny), Megan Prince Worrell, Michelle Prince Calagris (Chris) and Bevin Prince. He is also survived by Friend and husband Will; seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in Gene's memory to Saulston United Methodist Church, 4620 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
