He is survived by: his wife Amanda Williams Brewington; his children, Jamel Slater (Hollie) of Hawaii, Stephen Ray Smith (Rita) of Goldsboro and Frankie Danielle Brewington of Goldsboro; his brothers, William Gregory "Greg" Brewington (Madeline) of Virginia and Billy Donnell Brewington of Goldsboro; and his grandchildren, Anthony Slater and William Slater. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
