She was predeceased by: her father Charles Augustus Carpenter. She is survived by: her children, Stephen Rea (Phyllis) of Charlotte, John Rea (Nancy) of Snow Hill and Michelle Shellhammer of Cameron; her grandson Tyler Rea; and her siblings, Jeannette Mackie (Bob) of England, Charles Carpenter (Mary) of England and John Carpenter (Alex) of England. She is also survived by niece and four nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be given in her memory to The Wayne County Animal Shelter, 1600 Clingman Street, Goldsboro, NC or to the American Syringomyelia and Chiari Alliance Project (ASAP), P.O. Box 1586, Longview, Texas 75606-1586.
